Cheap books, cheap flights, cheap small appliances galore
Kathleen admires the crockpot, blender and waffle iron we acquired from JC Penny's Home Store Sunday at their half off or better sale. Everything in the photograph for less than $90. Kathleen is an old retail hand from Carson's and recalls that small appliances are rarely offered for more than 10 percent. So we're smug.
Faithful blog readers will recall that last year Stephen and Virgil were challenged to purchase some artwork for the big blank terra cotta wall in the family room. We saw a beautiful bowl there that appeared recently, very nice ... but no still artwork.
So Stan stuck his neck out and bought a huge $300 clock for $130 at the same Penny sale. (Tick tock, company is coming, fellows. I got it hung and it looks great, so you can stop your due diligence search of local art galleries for the time being. Linda and your cousins will be quite impressed with the clock, we're sure. It can't be read because it has mysterious letters on it where numbers should be.)News of the waffle iron purchase has apparently stimulated Stephen and Virgil. Kathleen's promise that she would make waffles for breakfast prompted both of them to adjust their rigorous work-a-day schedules and buy airline tickets to flee south. They booked $208 round trip tickets on a no frills flight and will arrive hungry.
"Strawberries or maple syrup, gentlemen?," Kathleen asks.

They look great on the IKEA, and whenever it comes time to move, we'll just return them all to the Goose.
