Curtains and wallpaper by Sears

This classic Rolfsrud family picture was taken around 1955. Shot by Elmo Hegg of Vernon Studios, Dad's 50s chum. The photograph is in Linda's possession and she brought it to her dinner Friday night. Click to enlarge and you will see that Sosie's cheeks are rosy, not from rouge, but that's just the way they were. Not sure if Becky has had her first kiss yet. She didn't tell us. (Harold Moon doesn't count.) Sosie is standing on a metal folding chair that was part of a junior-sized card table set that somehow survived years of abuse. The rest of us are seated on Dad's new Connsonata organ, a purchase he made so he wouldn't have to drive to town to practice the organ and collect the $50 the church paid for his services. Virgil could use some new shoes or at least some Shinola. Steve appears to have all his teeth and minimal scarring. A similar photograph taken during this session appeared on the jackets for Happy Acres and Family on Maple Street, two entries into the 50s fiction/fantasy family life market.
