It just keeps getting better.
Today Bill Siitari sat up in bed and fed himself. He had an appetite, ate a sandwich, some vegetables and would have finished his power drink but it wasn't that good.
His wife and hospital roomie, Briggs, is getting proficient on a walker and Bill can see her moving independently on it from his bed. She suffers from multiple fractures and lacerations.
They're both feeding themselves and are having conversations, so, you might say they "Did lunch today."
A drainage device connected to Bill's skull (a brain drain? Sorry, couldn't help it) has been removed. His swollen face is getting back to its normal size, he can open both eyes.
At least one family member has been keeping vigil around the clock. Tonight, Briggs' brother Ford Rolfsrud reports, everyone is at home in Buffalo and Mankato, an indication of great confidence in a positive prognosis. It may also be an indication of the total exhaustion these families must be experiencing.
Support has been wonderful from friends and family. Ford reports that the couple essentially spends their days with company or sleeping.
The driver and family in the other crash vehicle have made a good recovery and have been most thoughtful in their concern for Briggs' and Bills' condition and welfare, Ford says.
Photographs of the destroyed vehicle have been taken and Ford is amazed at the amount of damage to the car's interior.
