Today, at 3 p.m., Ford Rolfsrud, driving home from his job at Shakopee Junior High School, was startled by the realization that he had totally forgotten his parents' weddding anniversary. He didn't exactly know when it was or how many years it was, but he knew, if he called Uncle Stan, everything could be made right.
This he did, by cellphone on U.S. 169. Stan, always willing to help his nephew, suggested buying an ad on the family blog, memorializing his parents' union. Ford agreed, but was unable to estimate the exact number of years that had passed since their marriage. He knew they were married for more years than his age of 28, but after that, nothing.
Thirty years seemed like a nice round number, Ford agreed, and it was probably sometime in October. The deal was done.
So, Happy Anniversary, Steve and Nancy.

(Check or money order, Ford. No stamps please.)
By the way, junior high Shakopee math teacher Ford is having a good start to the year. They are in a new building (the former high school building) and the big space is useful. They also have some new educational initiatives bound to increase the quality of education in his uncle's school district. We appreciate that and wish him the best in the current year. The first quarter is over tomorrow. Report cards soon.
