Gift from Mary Lincoln Brown, 1941

In the 90s, Beverly Brown Rolfsrud got into quilting in a big way. She sponsored many a bee, spreading quilts throughout our family. You can see a movie of her quilts by clicking on "Mom Sings: O Thou That Tellest Good Tidings" in the home movie section below left. Perhaps this quilt was the one that inspired her. Her grandmother, Mary Lincoln Manley Brown, (we posted stuff about her earlier on this blog) gave this quilt to Beverly in 1941. (How do we know? Because she stitched it into the monogram, look closely. Click to enlarge.) Perhaps it was a wedding gift. The pink and blue material is from dresses that had been worn by Beverly and her sister, Kaye. Sosie writes that this grandmother Brown also knit sweaters and hats for Becky and Linda, according to Mom's notes. She died in 1950 in Minneapolis at the age of 88.
