The Norwegians are coming. . . the Norwegians are coming. . .
This photo is pretty much all we have to go on Sunday night when a plane load of Norwegians arrives in Minneapolis, bearing Gunnar and Knut Rolfsrud, cousins we've never met.
We'll be at the Radisson in Roseville at about 6 p.m. tomorrow night. We're not sure when they'll actually arrive there -- customs, etc. -- but we hope to be in the lobby with a sign or something when the tourists arrive. Join us, it will be fun.
They'll be tired out from a day of flying with a stop in Iceland. They're six hours ahead of us too, so it will be after midnight their time.
Gunnar speaks English, Knut not so much. The tour group will bus to Decorah to see the great Norwegian Immigrant museum, then on to Fargo, Minot, Bismarck and other Norwegian meccas favored by our forefathers.
Special side-trip exclusively for Gunnar and Knut: Our rancher cousin Harold plans on intercepting them in his crew-cab pickup for an overnight on the Rolfsrud Ranch near Watford City. Harold said he has a small herd of late calves that still need branding, so he promises an authentic western show for the Scandinavian dudes. "Sometimes I'm kind of an exhibitionist," laughed Harold, sounding not at all like the Norwegian he is.
