Making the turn

Oh, by the way, it's fall. Last night's northern blasts remind us that this is the shortest of all seasons, when trees don bright safety vests of orange and yellow and red to warn us of what's ahead; farmers hurry under dusty clouds while elder snowbirds flee to distant places. There's a sharp crackle in the air today, you hear neighbors buzzing over winter plans. We'll be digging in for the duration this year.
We've been warned. Bring it on.
