Kim whipped up a fine chicken 'n dumplin' vegetable soup tonight to go with her salad and homemade pesto pizza with sun-dried tomatoes. The birthday boy and his girlfriend hadn't arrived at Virg's house yet, but Stan, Kathleen, Virg and Kim continued on to the carrot cake anyway, hoisting a toast
in absentia.

Soon after, Aaron and Amber arrived, then joined us in our inspection of Virg's freshly-laid tile and granite, spread throughout the foyer, hallways and kitchen. There were new cabinets to approve, paint swatches to wonder over, everything new, new faucets, fixtures, the ceiling, even the kitchen sink. Looked fabulous.
And at 31 years, our nephew looks fabulous too, don't you think? He's been going with sweet Amber for at least five birthdays now. They are such a lovely couple.
Just sayin'.
