A life-time friendship, spawned during the Vietnam War, drew a couple of Australians to New Orleans for a holiday with their Vermont friends. They're staying in the unit next to us in Uptown and we've promised not to keep each other up late at night. Our "12 Years a Slave" host has extended his stay in Hollywood, he just got a job on a tv show, so we are still fending for ourselves. We had to borrow a corkscrew from these genial neighbors, which led to a plan to attend mass at the historic
St. Augustine Catholic Church. (Look that up, Googlers) There's a museum nearby and a parade at noon.

Looking forward to some fun times with these folks before they leave on Wednesday. They scouted plantations for us yesterday and we expect a full report.
