Happy Fourth of July

Here's the situation today at a friend's Canada outpost. The dock is on floats and so rises and falls with the lake.
The approach to it does not. It's July 4 there too of course, but generally nothing to celebrate. They celebrate Canada Day on July 1. It used to be called Dominion Day, but changed to Canada Day in 1982. The Queen was okay with that.
