The water stopped the birdie, he says

Stan's classmate Greg Johnson was closing in on his second birdie on the front nine today at Creeksbend. The weather was. . . inclement. It alternately poured and then rained, but the Alexandria Cardinals pushed on, oblivious, sort of, to the rain. Rainsuits and gloves and paraphernalia helped, but by the time Greg was lining up this putt there was water standing on the greens.
Greg's stroke was smooth and true, but inches from the hole "the water stopped it," he lamented.
The twosome bagged it after nine holes, they'll return to finish the round some day. That may have to wait, however. Greg's got an 18-mile hike Up North scheduled and priority for Stan is now winterizing Jennifer's house in Dundas. It rained today, but it may snow tomorrow.
Minnesota Hail to Thee.
