8:37 p.m.
Stan and Kathleen got a phone call moments ago from Nancy Rolfsrud, seated in the back seat of the family mini-van. The precious cargo in the front seat was Briggs Rolfsrud Siitari, sedated, but excited nevertheless to be heading to Mankato for recuperation. "We're going home," Nancy said triumphantly.
Before discharge today, Briggs spent an hour with Uncle Stan and Aunt Kathleen's daughter, Marcelline Harrisonfields, who gave Briggs another healing touch treatment that has seemed to work effectively for Briggs as she copes with her pain and stress.
Her husband, Bill Siitari, went home to Buffalo at about 4 p.m. today, to be cared for in his parents' home. These temporary arrangements will change as circumstances allow.
In the photo, we see Briggs modeling a lovely custom-made evening gown constructed entirely from. . . bubble wrap. It was designed and created by her friend, Scott J. Pakudaitis, who is now the Data Oracle at the Office of Institutional Research & Planning at The College of St. Catherine.
We can only speculate as to how things might have turned out so much differently if only Briggs had been wearing Scott's purple bubble-wrap evening gown on the day of the accident.
