Lorlee Bartos, a family friend since the 1950s, now lives and works in Dallas. She sends this note: I now have figured out why I enjoy the Emily adventures. She looks just like the baby doll I had as a child -- except the hair on my doll was blonde, but similar curls. I still have the head (see photo). My brother broke it off the body -- but it would have happened at sometime anyway since she was made out of the rubber stuff that was sort of like skin, which eventually would deteriorate and get sticky.
Okay, I know Emily has both sets of eyelashes -- but I still think that there is a resemblance -- cute button nose. . .Lorlee... are you sure that your doll had blonde hair? Looks like a brunette to me. And was that your big brother Duane who broke it, or your younger brother Steve?
I have always found that older brothers are more respectful of other people's property. TB
