Role reversal

55 years ago, it was mother telling Sosie to do her fingering exercises on the piano. Today, it was Sosie directing her mother through some fingering exercises -- and a whole lot of others -- designed to keep our 92--year-old in the best shape possible.
Stan joined Sosie and Mom for breakfast at her new Bloomington home this morning. Jill had whipped up a batch of bacon and scrambled eggs and toast for Mom. Stan called Sosie to tell her he'd be bringing breakfast smoothies for anyone who wanted one.
A year ago Sosie sold Stan on fruit and vegetable smoothies and talked us into buying a Vita-Mix, so she's a big fan of the product. Jill and Sosie both ate Stan's Sunday concoction (apple juice loaded with spinach, almonds, carrots, blueberries, bananas and strawberries) and carried on about how great they tasted. Stan joined the chorus and soon Mom allowed that she'd take a sample. Sosie loaded a helping of the over-hyped elixer into her waiting cup. Mom took a couple of spoonfuls but said nothing. Finally, we couldn't wait any longer.
"So how do you like your smoothie, Mom? What do you think?" Sosie prompted with hopeful anticipation.
Slowly Mom looked up with a straight face and then utterly destroyed her listening audience, as she deadpanned: "I'm waiting for the big wow."
"Well yes, her back yard was nice, but it's actually more fun up here
on grandma's lap."
