Rachel's List

When we asked if we could take his picture, Marvin immediately grabbed a menu and struck a pose, old pro that he is.
(Although it is common practice here, we did not opt for the tabasco sauce on our eggs.)
We thought the omelets were light
and fluffy… hash browns were great too.
We asked Rachel, our waitress at Regenelli's, where locals find the best bacon and eggs breakfast. She wrote out a short list.
The Camellia Grill was right on our way to the post office and Costco this morning and it did not disappoint. Located at the intersection of Carrollton and St. Charles since 1946, the street car comes by and it's close to the Loyola campus.
The place was packed with New Orleans Saints fans in their t-shirts and hats, laughing and yelling "Who Dat!" which is the unlikely battle cry you see plastered on bumper stickers and everywhere else. There's a lot of excitement in town today with the playoff game in Seattle. After a short wait, we bellied up to the marble counter, Marvin greeted us and took our order, and we watched the short order cook grill up our omelets and hash browns.
We talked to some life-time residents who have been coming here since it opened in 1946, when it went 24 hours a day, and they assured us we had come to the best place in town for breakfast. They also suggested that the Vikings trade Adrian Peterson and start the rebuilding process.
On our way back to the car, we asked a cop for directions to the nearest post office and also asked him if he ate breakfast at Camellia's, reputedly the best place in town for breakfast.
"Nah," the officer laughed. "We go here to Pepperoni's. That's the best place. Y'all should eat breakfast there."
We'll add that to Rachel's List.
