Last Laugh on Hair Affair

When my credit card company saw that I had charged an unusual amount on my credit card at the Curly Girl Hair Salon in Edina, their fraud department deemed this highly suspicious activity and blocked my account. I subsequently got a notification from Apple Icloud that there was a problem with my account when another charge wouldn't go through.
I fumbled through the call to the credit card company today, unblocked the account, and thanked them for their vigilance. I suppose I could be accused of suspicious activity. :) Perhaps they've never heard of a bald grandfather purchasing a haircut at a Curly Girl salon.
All good.

Hair affair

Emily and Grandpa had an adventure today at Curly Girl in Edina, getting a hair cut and style for her gorgeous long hair. First time under a dryer for the soon to be teenager. Like the look? We do. There was plenty of advice and opinion from her aunties, mom and grandma, but in the end she decided for herself. Nice job, Emily!

Plumbing

The next step on the Fish Farm: Plumbing! Hai and his almost doctor son, Andrew, ran the plumbing fittings and now await the arrival of the pump. Then to monitor water temperature and ph for a while and get everything just right for the introduction of the finnies! You can almost hear the eggs dropping!

Mother-Daughter

Our team hit the slopes, mindful that the snow is fleeting and it's unusual to have such an ideal day in mid-March, with temperatures in the 40s and lots of snow.
They had a wonderful time: our daughter, Melissa, and our granddaughter, Emily.

Memories at Hyland Hills!
Where's Grandma? There's still time. :)

A call from the manager; stern letter to follow

Regional Editor Mark Olson barks orders into telephone. Very dramatic.
The esteemed editor of the Chaska Herald, Mark Olson, came to call yesterday, and comfort the gnarly retired publisher in his basement study. Much to discuss, a single beer was consumed between the two of them, a far cry from past times, when a visit to the old green room signaled a much more robust experience.

Mr. Olson joined the staff in 199?, a reporter hailing from Thief River Falls. The two, as usual, had much to reflect upon, not the least of which was his recent promotion, elevating him to Regional Editor of the quirky chain, now called Big Fish. Founded in 1862, the Herald has had numerous editors in its storied past, including yours truly, and one ex-editor now sadly suffering from dementia.

We imagined that our conference was interrupted constantly by the busy newsroom, calling for sage advice from the new appointee, who barked orders into the sturdy telephone at hand.

Not the only laugh, of course, also true stories about Jim Rosenthal, former news manager of the Providence, Rhode Island paper, who was hired to be Mark’s boss at the Herald. Jim was enthralled by the constantly changing Minnesota weather, so different from boring Rhode Island.

Often Mark had to talk his boss down from assigning stories like the “exceedingly warm stretch of weather we've been having” which Mark knew would be over before the paper came out.

Wonder what he would have thought of the weather this week? Mark mused.

The Missus ordered a mid-sized pepperoni from Pizza Luce, downed with relish.
Mr. Rolfsrud poured. A good time was had by all.

Benjamin, Andrew and Abraham

St. Paul Katie found some pictures of old dead presidents today at the Canterbury Blackjack table. $665. She was killing some time waiting for a poker seat to open up.. Go figure. Stan took the house cut when she got home.

Helpers

Aaron, Stan, Alex
We had to move a heavy used power wheelchair out of Stan's van. First option was a call to nearest nephew Aaron, blocks away. But he wouldn't hear of his uncle lifting the other half of the heavy chair. So he drafted his brother Alex and the two nephews showed up today for a quick lift and a nice chat.
Thanks fellas, from your aunt and uncle!

Girl Scout cookie time

The Goodwill in Hopkins proved a good venue for this stalwart cookie sales effort.
