As we sanded down the 13-year-old cedar deck just off the kitchen, we thought it might be nice to have a table and chairs assembled there for an occasional picnic when conditions allow. Up to now we've had a couple of stools there for relaxing, and don't use it much, except for the barbecue grill.
At one time we had a hot tub up there. That was a big mistake.
So, while we were waiting for the weather to clear long enough to reseal the deck, we spent a rainy day shopping around town for deck furniture. We found a very reasonably priced solid steel set for $198 (factory seconds, probably) and so while we waited for the deck to dry out, Stan set to work assembling it. The first chair is the hardest, the one you practice with and curse at, after that things always settle down into a system. The round table went together well, with only one false start. You just get one chance with that.
