The Maas bridge at Grave


This bridge at Grave was taken by the 82nd Airborne on Sept. 17, 1944. British tanks rolled across two days later on the way to Arnhem via Hell's Highway during Opertation Market Garden. Tragically, they wouldn't make it that far.
The Airborne didn't have armor, but they'd often hitch a ride on a Sherman. We had to try one out at the
