A Letter from Briggs to the Trailboss

(This letter arrived in the trailboss@swpub.com mailbox last night, but the Trailboss and the Missus had already turned in for the night so it didn't get posted in a timely fashion. We apologize to you eager readers for the delay, - there have been 50 of you already this morning - but here it is now, from our sweet, recovering niece, now in Mankato.)

9:30 p.m. Tuesday
Dear TB:
Thanks again for all of the blog updates. It helps people stay in the loop. It would have been difficult to manage so many calls and emails, and many people would have felt like we didn't care enough about them to respond....when in actuality, we do care a lot! It's just that there are more critical things (like staying alive) that got in the way of diligent communication. Thanks again!

I want to update you on my progress. Since 4:30 a.m., I have been feeling just great. No nauseau, no distinct pain. Just the need for sleep....which was not neglected! I probably slept about half of the day away, catching up from many a night filled with 'neighborly' activity at the hospital. (People yelling, falling out of bed, complaining, etc). It's so peaceful in Mankato!

Would you let people know that I'm doing very well, and would enjoy a couple of visitors if they are in the area? But, warning: I get pretty tired after about 10-20 minutes. So I don't want anyone to feel obligated to stay longer. I'd probably fall asleep on them.

Dad (photo) and I decided that the best way to coordinate visitors is to encourage them to call first. (612-695-9969) I would like phone calls in the afternoon, since I sleep most of the day and night.

Once on the phone, we can determine an appropriate time and date, depending on how I feel and that person's schedule.

Thanks, Uncle Stan. Hope all is well with you and your lovely bride, Kathleen!
