We gonna rock, we gonna rock
We gonna walk around the block tonight!

Dear family and friends:
Briggs made significant progress this week. She has almost completely eliminated her pain medications. She is hopeful that this will allow her to restore her diet better than has happened to date.
But the real news is her ability to walk without the aid of the walker, weeks ahead of schedule. The last few nights she has capped it off with a walk around the block, which leaves her a little sore and tired, but feeling wonderful to have independence from the walker.
So how did all of this happen? In one day she received 29 separate, simultaneously mailed get well cards sent to her by St. Kate's colleagues and friends!

Scrumptious homemade desserts
Then Janine Soderholm, and her daughter, Gemma, with Janine's grandson, Aidan, delivered a supply of Panera tasty pastries and cookies, followed by Jodie Wallschlaeger's delivery of her superb pasta meal with Sandi Schuette's scrumptious homemade desserts and fruit basket.
Then Bill arrived for an extended stay.
And to put an exclamation on the week, five of Briggs' St. Kate's friends drove in from St. Paul on Saturday afternoon for a laugh-filled get well party. [See photo.] Add this all up, and there are many good reasons for Briggs' recent improvement.
Next week, Briggs hopes to get the "go-ahead" from her neurosurgeon to remove her neck brace.

Just to remind us how far she has come, we just received the hospital discharge information containing her diagnoses: basi-occiput fracture, clivus fracture, facial lacerations, traumatic brain injury, five pelvic fractures, left kidney grade 2 laceration, abdominal gastritis, paraspinal muscle injury, two rib fractures, and pulmonary contusion. She hopes to leave ALL of these behind her in the not so distant future.

By the way, I took Bill out to give him my final neurological exam, administered at the golf course driving range. His hand-to-eye coordination was as good, if not better, than before!
Thanks for your interest and support.
