We figured it out

This bedroom canopy in our Midtown Loft presented some difficult problems for a lighting solution. We wanted light to stream through the openings, ala the Statue of Liberty. The assembly is over the future bed in the condo. We had hoped to project some lighting effects through the little square windows, but nothing seemed to work. We even tried some one quart Mason canning jars to see if the light would be projected decently. No good. Filling them with colored water made matters worse. The solution, discovered yesterday, was simply cutting strips from ordinary 2x4 plastic lighting panels intended for business flourescent lighting, and taping them into a big circle around the lamp. Worked good. Who knew.
