Reaching the crest of the Wild Thing.
July 1, 2013, Valleyfair, Minnesota |
Here's Emily on the Wild Thing roller coaster at Valleyfair, anticipating her very first plunge. She's seven now and 48 inches tall, enough to qualify for the scariest ride on the planet. Her friend, Luke, joined her for the very big awesome dip. This photograph was snapped by her thrill-seeking mother, Melissa. Grandpa doesn't do roller coasters and votes against this activity. (That's too bad, Grandpa, we're going anyway.)
Wild Thing, located in Shakopee, is a
steel out-and-back roller coaster with more than one mile of track. Its first hill is 207 feet with a 60 degree drop, and reaches speeds of up to 74 mph. Wild Thing's height was set by the FAA, due to the nearby presence of Flying Cloud Airport.
