Emily's Eight Now. . .

Aunt Marcelline decorated her apartment and provided this dashing sombrero for the birthday girl.
Thomas served roasted chicken and carrots on rice
with delightful accompaniments
Emily's family gathered at Aunt Marcelline's last night for an "organic birthday dinner" prepared by Thomas, Marcy's professional chef roommate. Guests enjoyed a delicious meal in a sedate setting followed by the traditional birthday song, gift opening and cake-cutting.
Our granddaughter's birthday weekend continues today with a raucous outing scheduled at Mr. Chuck E. Cheese's place, perhaps more in tune with an eight-year-olds energy level.
Not that our girl wasn't the charming guest of honor last night. . . she sang a delightful rendition of something from "Frozen," said thank yous as appropriate and toasted her extended family sweetly.
Among her favorite items was a hand-knitting system with a batch of colorful yarns from grandma and grandpa. We'll be expecting new pot holders for Christmas.
